Exactly one year back, the country of Israel was shaken to its core. The unthinkable had happened.
Terrorists representing Hamas, the Palestinian outfit based out of Gaza, stormed across the border using innovative methods like gliders and tunnels. Once they landed on Israeli soil, they began doing what they believed to be their divine mission – kill and rape the jews.
The members of Hamas began their day of plunder, killing over 1000+ Israeli citizens and also took many more as hostages back to Gaza, some of whom they still hold to this day. This was the largest killing of Jews since the holocaust. This is like if LeT terrorists had killed 1 million people in Mumbai during 26/11.
The entire Jewish community was outraged. Jews control a significant amount of wealth in the world and also hold sway over top financial institutions and educational centers. The country of Israel which had been going through their own internal fights, came together overnight as one.
The IDF, Mossad, the ruling coalition along with the opposition came together to form a united cabinet. They finally realized their policy of rearing snakes in their neighborhood was the wrong one. Israel was fighting for its very existence.
A year on from those dreadful attacks, Israel has roared back in style. They have since destroyed Hamas and flattened North Gaza. Apparently even that was not enough. They have since disabled the entire leadership of Hezbollah in Lebanon and have the Ayatollah of Iran hiding for his life. And it doesn’t look like they will be taking a rest.
For Israel, this is a battle for their very existence. If they don’t take action today, they will get wiped off this planet tomorrow. The liberal media will ensure till the very end to blame the Jews while whitewashing the crimes of the perpetrators.
Now there have been student protests across the world calling for a stop to genocide in Palestine. I am by no means an advocate of war of any kind. However, when Hamas attacked Israel last year, every individual in Gaza was cheering for these attacks. They were gleeful and no student protestor condemned that.
There is a term called ‘FAFO’. It roughly translates to “Fuck Around, Find Out” which is what both Hamas and Hezbollah are facing today.
As an Indian living in Mumbai, I envy the way Israel shamelessly protects its interests and has that civilizational unity to rise above its differences during such situations. Contrast that to the Indian government’s tame response to the 26/11 attacks in 2008. Or how the opposition had acted post Uri and Pulwama as well as their toeing the Pakistani line when it came to the surgical strikes.
Indians lack that civilizational unity and a general lack of awareness towards our history, unlike the Jews. While I have my own issues with many of the shady dealings conducted by the community, I mostly admire and respect their tenacity and unity to overcome any situation.
