After over 18 years as a Manchester United supporter, I will finally say what should have been said years back – watching them play is a waste of time.
Watching this so called “elite” players with fat salaries failing to convert easy chances. Playing like amateurs against a Chelsea side who were not at their best. It is such a waste.
Watching every player and manager with a reputation come in and act like amateurs…EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!
The culture around the club was always rotten. But we the fans have endured it for over 10 years. But things have changed.
Talk to most Man Utd fans and they all say the same thing – they just don’t care anymore. Most are dead inside, stuck in an abusive relationship that they do not have the strength to quit.
I once used to follow every game diligently, staying up late to watch games mostly just to be left with disappointment. Sure there were some good times, but mostly it was just plain old torture.
My feeling of apathy has only grown since the club and their piss poor transfer strategy has made yet another manager with a great reputation look like a clueless idiot.
Don’t give me this manager spent this much, that manager spent this much. It is not the manager’s role to scout players. The manager only requests the profile of player he needs to implement his system. At least that is how it is at a competent club.
My level of apathy has reached such dangerous levels that I don’t even have it in me to rant properly. I am done.
I will always support the club, but I am done caring whether they win or lose. I doubt I will care even if they were to get relegated.
I sincerely hope Ineos can sort out this mess, but their decisions haven’t exactly filled me with confidence.
I intend to focus on a more neutral and objective point of view from now. It is better to view sports from the lens of a neutral rather than get attached to a team. Especially teams like Manchester United.
