Jake Paul beats Mike Tyson

Actually, lets get more accurate. 27 year-old youtuber Jake Paul beats 57 year-old former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

If this sounds ridiculous to you, you are right. It is outright ridiculous.

And yet, these kind of exhibition fights draw millions of viewers and generate so much attention, that streaming platforms enter bidding wars for their rights.

Now, I am a huge fan of these kinds of events. The showmanship and pure focus on entertainment is one of the things that makes human civilization so great.

If I sound like a degenerate, you may be right.

It makes sense why Netflix spent a pretty buck to gain the streaming rights for this fight. What doesn’t make sense is how they could provide such a poor experience.

Viewers barely got to see the fight with so much buffering and poor quality. Netflix should learn from Prime or Hotstar on how to stream live events.

The other thing that doesn’t make sense is why people were expecting a 58 year old to possibly compete with a 27 year old, even if the former was a world champion. It was a no brainer.

The most important question is why I am trying to have a rational discussion here. There is absolutely no reason why I should be turning this into a scientific study.

Both Jake and Mike will be earning in millions from this fight. The real wonder here is how Jake was able to leverage his social media following to get to this position.

The world of media & entertainment has been changed by the internet. Everyone can reach this level of influence that people make a big deal when they beat a 58 year old man.

What is next? KSI vs Mayweather? Or will Mr. Beast get into a showdown with CarryMinati?

The future of entertainment is bright. To quote Ronald McDonald, “I’m Loving It.”
